Useful to include

You don’t need a specification. Four things make the first call much more useful:

  1. What the work is today - who does it, how often, and roughly how long it takes them.
  2. What breaks when it goes wrong, and how you find out.
  3. Which systems are involved, even if the answer is “a spreadsheet and an inbox.”
  4. What you’d want to be true in three months.
